A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents his first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after March of that year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

His retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.

Moutet defended four early-game break points in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
